Brampton Beast News Release

BRAMPTON, ON - The Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the St. John's IceCaps and Montreal Canadiens, announce today that top-pair defenseman Jeremie Blain has been recalled to the American Hockey League's Chicago Wolves.

Blain, 23, is one of just three Beast skaters to suit up for all 31 games played to date this season. He has quickly emerged as one of the ECHL's top offensive defenseman, netting a pair of goals and adding 20 assists for 22 points, tied for the fifth highest total of all ECHL defensemen.

At the time of his callup, the rearguard finds himself near the top of the ECHL leaderboards in several different categories. His 12 power play assists is the second-highest total in the ECHL and his 20 assists to date is the second-highest total recorded by an ECHL defensemen this season, only trailing his defense partner Mike Vernace who has 21.

The Longueuil, Quebec native is no stranger to the AHL and has suited up for 45 career contests in the American League, recording eight assists and 48 penalty minutes between the Chicago Wolves and Utica Comets between the 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons.

In separate transactions, forward Ben Power and goaltender Andy Iles have been released from their Standard Player Contracts.
