
Atlanta's Register Selected as ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY - The ECHL announced today that Atlanta Gladiators defenseman Matt Register has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Dec. 28-Jan. 3.
Register, 26, collected an impressive eight assists in three games this past week which helped the team to a 2-1-0 record. The Calgary, AB native also produced three straight multi-point games in the previous week to extend his current point streak to five games where he has tallied one goal and 10 assists. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound defender leads the Gladiators in scoring since making his season debut on December 5th with 16 points in 14 games and is riding a stretch of four straight multi-point efforts. Register has 123 points in 158 career ECHL games with both Atlanta and the Ontario Reign and was named ECHL Defenseman of the Year in 2013-14.
On behalf of Matt Register, a case of pucks will be donated to an Atlanta youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 33,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
