(Windsor, CO) - The Colorado Eagles announced Tuesday that they have signed forward Johnny Lazo to a Standard Player Contract for the remainder of the 2015-16 season. The 5-foot-6, 170-pound center comes to Colorado from the Serie A league in Italy, where he starred for the Sterzing/Vipiteno Broncos, posting 16 goals and 19 assists in 22 games.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba native is in his first season as a professional, after enjoying a standout career at both the collegiate and major-junior levels. Most recently, Lazo registered 132 points in 136 games with the University of Alberta, including 55 goals. He would be named to the CIS All-Rookie Team in 2011, the CIS All-Star Team in 2013 and helped the Golden Bears capture the CIS National Championship in 2014.

Prior to making the move to the collegiate level, Lazo generated 170 points in 217 WHL contests with the Tri-City Americans. His major-junior career was highlighted by a 2009-10 campaign which saw Lazo score 39 goals and add 32 assists in 72 games with the Americans.

Lazo is expected to be in the line-up when the Eagles travel to take on the Allen Americans on Friday, January 8th.
