'Blades sign Aucoin for '06-'07

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades, proud affiliate of the Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that it has signed forward Phil Aucoin to a contract for the 2006-07 season. Aucoin becomes the third player signed by the Everblades this off-season.
The Everblades extended a qualifying off to Aucoin on July 1, which the 24-year-old accepted. After beginning the 2005-06 season with the Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL where he tallied three points in four games, Aucoin was acquired by the Everblades in a trade on November 4, 2005 and finished off the regular season with 17 goals and 26 assists in 65 games.
"Phil had a strong year for us last season, and we look for him to have the same type of result for us this season." Everblades Head Coach Gerry Fleming said. "Phil brought great energy to our lineup and was a strong addition to our special teams, and we are happy to have him return to our organization."
Aucoin's 43 points ranked him seventh on the Everblades in scoring last year. Of his 17 goals, four came on the power play and two while the Everblades were shorthanded.
The Chelmsford, Massachusetts native made his professional debut in 2004-05 when he split time between the Memphis River Kings of the Central Hockey League and the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League. In 58 games with the River Kings he tallied 73 points (25g, 48a) and added two assists in two games with the Bruins.
Prior to joining the pro ranks, Aucoin spent four years at the collegiate level with Norwich University where he compiled 136 points in 110 career games.
