Blades Reassign Two Players
September 7, 2009 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
The Saskatoon Blades have reassigned two players to their respective midget teams.
Center Ryan Olsen (Delta, BC) and defenseman Darren Dietz (Medicine Hat, AB) were reassigned following this past weekend's 4-1 loss by the Blades to the Medicine Hat Tigers.
Olsen, the Blades 1st round pick (20th overall) in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft, will make his way to the Greater Vancouver Canadians of the BC Major Midget League.
Dietz, a recent addition to the Blades 50-man player protected list, will rejoin the Medicine Hat Big Country Energy Tigers of the Alberta Midget Hockey League.
Prior to the weekend, defenseman Gregory Kost (Saskatoon, SK) was reassigned to the Saskatoon Blazers of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League.
Twenty-nine players remain on the Blades roster - 16 forwards, 10 defenseman, and 3 goaltenders - including the contingent of Blades players headed to National Hockey League training camps this week.
The Blades next action on the exhibition schedule is Friday, September 11th against the Prince Albert Raiders at Credit Union Centre. Game time is 7:05 pm.
The Blades will be launching the team's brand-new redesigned RBK Edge jerseys this Wednesday at 1:30 pm at City Hall Square. The event is open to the general public.
