Blade Says "Go Pioneers Go!"

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals announced today that their mascot Blade will be appearing at Dunn Field in Elmira on Thursday night to support the Elmira Pioneers.
The Pioneers, members of the New York Collegiate Baseball League, won the NYCBL's 2007 West Division regular season title with a 26-16 record this summer. They continued their momentum into the post season as they swept the Hornell Dodgers 2-0 in the best of three series to advance to the West Division Finals. Elmira will host the Geneva Red Wings for Game One of the West Division Finals Thursday night at Dunn Field. Geneva defeated the Allegany County Nitros 9-4 Wednesday night in Game Three of the West Division Semifinals.
"We are really excited that the Pioneers have enjoyed so much success this summer," said General Manager Robbie S. Nichols. "We are sending our mascot Blade out to the game tonight and we are urging all of our Jackals Season Ticket Holders, Suite Holders and Sponsors to come out to Dunn Field to cheer on our hometown team in the playoffs. I will see you there!"
Tonight's playoff game at Dunn Field in Elmira will begin at 7:00 pm, Game One of the best of three series. The winner of the West Division Finals will go on to face the winner of the East Division Finals (Saratoga vs. Glens Falls) in the NYCBL Championship Series. Elmira edged Geneva to take the regular season crown; both teams finished with a 26-16 record, but the Pioneers had the better head-to-head record. Amidst another busy off-season, the Jackals are currently preparing for the 2007-2008 season, their inaugural campaign in the ECHL and their 8th season of operations beginning on October 19, 2007 at First Arena against the Wheeling Nailers.
