Blackout to Hit Mosaic Place this Weekend

April 20, 2022 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Moose Jaw Warriors News Release

In 1966, Mick Jagger sang, "I see a red door and I want it painted black." That will be the motto at Mosaic Place for the Moose Jaw Warriors' run in the 2022 WHL Playoffs.

Fans are encouraged to blackout the facility in downtown Moose Jaw by wearing black to each home game, starting with Game 1 on Friday against the Saskatoon Blades.

"We're extremely excited to bring playoff hockey back to Mosaic Place. It's been a few years since there's been any playoffs in the WHL and to be able to host a close rival in the Saskatoon Blades is great," Warriors director of business operations Jaret Schneider said.

"Having home ice advantage in the first round is a huge benefit for the team and community, and gives everyone a chance to come out on the weekend and cheer on the team. We're looking forward to having everyone in our building this weekend."

Fans can pick up black #WeAreRelentless t-shirts at the Crushed Can Retail Store for $10.

The Warriors will also be handing out cowbells, sponsored by SaskMilk, to the first 1,500 fans through the doors on Friday night to help increase the home ice advantage for the team.

"Everyone would agree that playoff hockey is the best time of year and it's a huge advantage for the team to have the best fans in the WHL rooting them on," Schneider said.

In the lead up to the start of the playoffs this week, fans are encouraged to show how relentless Moose Jaw is on social media by posting a photo or video, tagging the Warriors and using the hashtag #WeAreRelentless.

The deadline to enter is Thursday at 5 p.m. and one lucky winner will be drawn to win two tickets to Game 1 and a team-signed jersey.

There will be much more happening in the arena throughout the games on Friday and Saturday.

Tickets are available at mjwarriors.ca, the Mosaic Place Box Office and the Warriors' office.
