January 8, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Bellevue Blackhawks News Release
(Long Beach, CA)âThe ABA Bellevue Blackhawks mounted a balanced attack Friday night, with five players scoring in double figures, to extend their winning streak to seven straight games. Bellevue never trailed in posting a 110-99 victory over defending ABA champions, the Long Beach Jam, at the Pyramid.
Justin Murray (Washington State) led Bellevue with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Franklin High School's Jimmie Haywood tallied 18 points and 3 steals, while new-signee Alvin Snow (Eastern Washington University) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The Blackhawks--who have posted victories over Visalia, Portland, Los Angeles, Long Beach and Fresno during their seven-game run--have proven to be road warriors, winning four in a row as the visitors, and moving their season record into plus-territory for the first time in the 2004-05 season at 8-7.
Head coach, Rick Turner, said, "We've played well over the past couple of weeks, but we know we can get better. This team is excited to take the court every night."
Bellevue hosts the Long Beach Jam next Thursday and Saturday, January 13th and 15th at Renton High School. Great seats are available at: (206) 686-4636, ext. 11, or www.Blackhawkshoops.com, www.abalive.com, www.gettix.net.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
