Blackhawks take down Stars, move closer to .500

(Los Angeles, CA)—The Bellevue Blackhawks professional basketball team of the American Basketball Association (ABA), stretched their winning streak to five straight games with a 115-104 victory over the Los Angeles Stars Wednesday night on the Stars' home court at Granada Hills High School. Bellevue's season tally improved to 6-7 while Los Angeles' record evened to 6-6.

Scoring leaders for the Blackhawks were: guard Lavell Brown, 25 points; forward Justin Murray (Washington State) and guard Jimmie Haywood (Seattle's Franklin High School), 18 each. Forwards Eric Sandrin (Bothell High School/Seattle Pacific University) and Dontay Harris each had 8 rebounds. Bellevue led most of the game, and opened up a 20-point lead in the third quarter. But, Los Angeles never quit and closed the gap to five in the fourth quarter before the Blackhawks pulled away for good. Jimmie Haywood hit a three-pointer from the corner with a minute left in the game to seal it for the visitors.

Bellevue plays defending ABA champions the Long Beach Jam Friday night January 7th at the Pyramid in Long Beach, then both teams head back to Seattle to play on the Blackhawks home court at Renton High School next Thursday, January 13th and Saturday, January 15th.
