ABA announces arena construction program
Published on January 6, 2005 under American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Indianapolis, IN. Joe Newman, ABA CEO, today announced that TEC Constructors, Inc. will serve the ABA as the exclusive consultant in providing arena physical feasibility analysis. TEC Constructors, Inc. is a national construction and development services firm with headquarters in Irvine, California. Over the years, TEC has built a reputation in the construction industry as a leader in providing value-added services to its clients, which helped it grow its repeat and referral client bases over the years. With its motto as Promises Kept, TEC prides itself in delivering exceptional performances by every member of the construction team.
According to Newman, "TEC, a minority-owned company, is the perfect company to help the ABA and its teams achieve the goal of developing mid-sized venues across the nation. Tim Coffey, TEC CEO, is a visionary and has led TEC to through some remarkably successful projects. We are pleased and flattered that TEC has agreed to work with us."
Most recently, TEC has been engaged by Major League Baseball in its efforts to revitalize the youth programs in the urban areas of the U.S. TEC is currently building a baseball facility in Compton, California to kick start his effort.
For the ABA, TEC will provide physical feasibility analysis for an ABA arena in a proposed market. TEC's main role will be to understand the vision of each market, assess the market for the feasibility of facilitating such an arena, and make initial recommendations to the ABA and proposed teams ownership on its viability and steps that need to be taken to make such a vision a reality. Currently, there are four proposed market areas for which TEC is conducting its initial physical feasibility study, including Long Island, Chicago and Orange County, CA, while several others are in the initial stages of planning.
Tim Coffey stated, "Having good places to play is critical to the ultimate success of the ABA. While many of their teams have great venues, many are playing in places that are not as good as they could be. And with the ABA so involved with entertainment as well as sports, it makes great sense to have your own facility."
"We should probably add that TEC will actually be building the venues," added Ricardo Richardson, ABA EVP, who is working closely with TEC to execute the venue program. "TEC's work on Los Angeles International Airport, John Wayne Airport, Walgreens' warehouses, and other projects is exceptional. We think we'll create very unique, exciting playing and entertainment venues that will excite the fans - and we're looking forward to getting started."
