
Black Wolves Drop Back and Forth Affair in Denver

Denver - Jordan Hall and Kevin Buchanan each scored hat tricks in a game that saw four ties and three lead changes, but it was not enough as the New England Black Wolves fell at Colorado, 14-13.
In the battle of first place teams, Shawn Evans (two goals, four assists) and Kevin Crowley (six assists) paced the Black Wolves (5-3) with six points each while Adam Jones (seven goals, one assist) led the Mammoth (8-2).
Colorado opened up a 4-0 advantage in the first 8:43 of play, including three goals from Jones, before Hall scored the first goal of the game for New England with 3:02 remaining in the quarter. He followed that up with his second of the night just 55 seconds into the second frame to cut the score to 4-2. Derek Suddons picked up his first goal as a Black Wolf in transition 2:14 into the second to cut the Mammoth advantage to one at 4-3, but Colorado picked up another goal just 35 seconds later to increase the lead back to two.
Jones picked up his fourth goal of the night on the power play to put the Mammoth up 6-3 with 11:16 left in the first half. Kyle Buchanan scored to pull New England back into it at 6-4, and Evans brought the Black Wolves within one, 6-5, with 5:10 left. Kevin Buchanan followed that up with two goals to close out the second quarter with New England leading 7-6.
Colorado scored 33 seconds into the half to tie it back up and then rattled off two more goals to take a 9-7 lead, but Kevin Buchanan wrapped up his hat trick and brought New England back within one at 9-8 with 9:06 left in the third. Colorado opened up a two goal advantage with another score in the first minute of the fourth, but Suddons picked up his second goal of the night to cut it back to one just 30 seconds later. Evans picked up his second of the night to tie the game with 12:29 left to play and Hall wrapped up a hat trick with 9:06 remaining to give New England the 11-10 lead.
The Mammoth rattled off three goals in a span of one minute and four seconds to take a 14-11 lead with 3:51 left to play. Jimmy Purves scored with 2:30 left and Pat Saunders cut the lead to one, 14-13, with 45 seconds to play, but New England was unable to convert in the closing seconds.
Hall had two assists to go along with his three goals for five points for the Black Wolves. Saunders had four points (one goal, three assists), as did Kevin Buchanan, who added an assist to his hat trick. In goal, Evan Kirk had 42 saves for New England.
The Black Wolves will be in action next on Saturday, March 12th when they travel to Rochester to take on the Knighthawks. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
