Berkshire Black Bears News Release

PITTSFIELD-The Berkshire Black Bears got on the board early, gave up the lead, went down by as many as 5 runs and then rallied back in the 9th inning to beat the Albany Colonie Diamond Dogs 8-7 Tuesday night.

The hero once again was Michael Moore. Last week he hit a walk off homer to help the Black Bears win. Tuesday night he bounced a single off the centerfield wall, which was enough to score Edger Gonzalez from second and give the Black Bears the 8-7 win. Moore went 2 for 4 with his other hit being a double in the 8th inning. Every Black Bear starter had at least one hit. Darond Stovall led the attack with two triples, the first Black Bear to do that, he was 3 for 3. Jorge Garcia was 2 for 5 with a double, a single and 2 runs scored. Scott Allen went 1 for 4 with an RBI. Derrick Gutierrez went 1 for 4 with a run scoring double and Luis Mercedes went 1 for 4.

Starter Brian Gouin went 4 innings allowing 5 runs on 8 hits, walking and striking out none. Greg McKoule went 1 innings allowing 2 runs on 2 hits while walking 2 and striking out 1. Doug Dimma pitched 3 innings of scoreless relief allowing no hits, walking no one while striking out 3. Joe Cotton came on in the 9th inning walked 1 and struck out 1. Cotton has now won back-to-back appearances and not been scored upon in the second half. The series is tied at 1 with the third game tomorrow night at 7:05 at Wahconah Park.
