Berkshire Black Bears News Release

A beautiful afternoon game at Wahconah Park turned to be a tragic loss for the Black Bears, losing 9-0 against the Ambassadors.

The Ambassadors' starter, Miguel Perez pitched a gem, throwing a no hitter over seven and 2/3 innings, striking out eleven hitters as he swept the Black Bears bats back to their dugout. In the first inning, Allentown first baseman, Vic Davilla hit an RBI single as a first score of this game. Brian Macchi singled with an RBI, and Davilla scored from third and Marlon Roche scored from the second on an error by the second baseman, Mark Burnett, giving Allentown a very early 3-0 edge. Allentown would pile on six more runs in a big fifth inning, (11 Ambassadors hitters came to the plate) compiling 17 hits as a team Sunday. The Ambassadors starter Perez shut out the Black Bears bats over eight innings, allowing only one hit to Ryan Jones with two out in the eighth, and he picked up his third win this season (3-3).

The Black Bears starter, Jim Dedrick fell to 0-1 with the loss, allowing eight runs (six earned) and twelve hits over four and 0/3 innings.

Berkshire is back in action tomorrow night at Wahconah for the first of four games in Pittsfield against Les Capitales du Quebec, 7:05pm first pitch.
