Berkshire Black Bears News Release
PITTSFIELD- The Berkshire Black Bears faced one of the toughest pitchers in the Northern League East Friday night and it showed as they lost to the New Jersey Jackals 8-0. The Black Bears managed just 3 hits off Jackals pitcher Aarron Myers all night.
Black Bears starting pitcher Greg Lacoule never got on track as he was pulled in the 2nd inning after giving up 4 runs on 3 hits while walking 4 and striking out 1. Jim Harrison came on in relief and pitched 5 2/3 innings. He gave up 5 runs on 7 hits while walking 5 and striking out 3. Mike Minerva came on for the final two innings. He walked no one and struck out 2.
The story of the night was the silence from the Black Bear bats. The 3 hits came from Michael Moore who doubled in the 5th inning, Nelson Samboy who has now hit in 10 consecutive games and Ryan Smith who singled. Brian Gouin takes the mound tomorrow night for the second game of the three game series.
