Calgary, AB - In search of their first win in the last six meetings against the Calgary Vipers, the Victoria Seals made the trip to Foothills Stadium for game one on Friday night. With the Vipers handing veteran Evan Greusel (5-2) the ball, the Seals answered with right-hander Aaron Trolia (0-2) in the series opener.

Staking themselves to an early lead, Victoria used a lead-off double from Wilver Perez along with an RBI base hit from Jamar Hill to lead 1-0 through one frame. With the temperature dipping into single-digits, the Vipers pulled into the lead in the bottom of the third frame when a single from Caonabo Cosme followed by walks to both Nelson Castro and Kit Pellow set up a two-run single from Colin Moro.

Responding to tie the game 2-2 in the top of the fourth, the Seals evened the score when an RBI single from Brett Flowers cashed Gabriel Riley after the Victoria centre fielder reached on a fielder's choice. The home side retook the lead in the bottom of the fifth, though, using a walk to Castro, before a base hit from Pellow made the score 3-2 Calgary.

As the game shifted to the top of the seventh and the rain began to fall at Foothills Stadium, the Seals drew even once more with the help singles from both Perez and Sergio Pedroza along with a sacrifice fly from Hill to tie the game at 3-3.

Calgary then took the lead for the third and final time in the bottom half of the seventh, kicked off by a bunt single from Jorge Mejia, followed by a walk to Pellow, then an RBI base hit from Moro, and capped off by a run-scoring double play ball for a 5-3 advantage through seven.

Despite pulling back within one in the eighth frame, thanks to a lead-off double from Riley, before a base hit from Bret LeVier and a sacrifice fly from Perez, the visitors could not match the Vipers offense once again.

Calgary padded their lead with three runs in the bottom of the frame with a double from Cosme, an intentional walk to Fehlandt Lentini, a bases-clearing triple courtesy of Castro, and one more hit thanks to Mejia to stretch the lead to 8-4. Turning to Brian Oliver in the top half of the ninth, the Vipers made it four wins in four days over Victoria with an 8-4 victory on Friday night.

Todd Moser again collects the win in relief for Calgary, while Aaron Trolia falls to 1-3 for the Seals after being ejected from the game in the bottom of the seventh. Receiving another strong outing from Colin Moro, who was 2-for-5 with 3 RBI's, the Vipers offense was also help by a 3-for-3 outing from nine-hole batter Caonabo Cosme.
