Tucson Toros News Release

Chico, CA-The Tucson Toros got out to a 4-0 lead but gave up seven unanswered runs in a 7-4 loss to the Chico Outlaws Friday night. Tucson plated a least one run in each of the first three innings, including two RBI doubles in the second inning by Second Baseman Skip Adams and Catcher Luis Apodaca.

Starting Pitcher Vince Davis held the Outlaws scoreless until two runs chased him in the 5th inning. Chico tied the game with two more runs against lefty reliever Toby Nordman in the 6th inning and eventually took the lead with three runs in the 7th against southpaw Dan Knox.

Centerfielder Lino Garcia finished the night 2-for-4 to increase his season average to .324. Both Adams and Apodaca contributed a run scored to their double and RBI, with Adams also adding his 11th stolen base of the season.

Even with the loss the Toros remained in first place in the GBL Southern Division over division rival Orange County, staying ahead of the Flyers by a narrow margin in winning percentage .600 to .583. The Toros will look to expand that lead Saturday in Chico with game two of the three game series scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. Tucson time.
