TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Scranton Wilkes- Barre Yankees in the first game of a two-game set at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is coming off a split of a four-game series against the Chiefs in Syracuse. After Friday, the Bisons have just a two-game series in Rochester over the weekend to close out the first half of the season.
vs. THE YANKEES: The Bisons are 5-3 against the Yankees this season. Buffalo took three of four in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre from April 8-11 before the teams split a four-game set at Coca Cola Field, April 17-20. The Bisons and Yankees have not faced each other since April 20.
HOMERING HERD: The Bisons hit four more home runs last night in Syracuse and now have 93 on the season. That total is tied with both Durham and Charlotte for the most in the International League. Buffalo has 12 homers in seven games this month and 19 in 10 games since June 28th. The Bisons already have 13 more home runs than they hit all of last year (80).
PADDING STATS: OF JORGE PADILLA went 1-4 last night to extend his hit streak to 11 games. The outfielder has averaged .356 (16-45) with three doubles, six RBI and ten runs scored during the stretch. The stretch is one game shy of the Bisons' season-high of 12, set by OF JESUS FELICIANO from May 12-23.
RUN PRODUCER: INF MIKE JACOBS hit two home runs in last night's victory, giving him 13 blasts on the season. The slugger now has four homers in his last four games and nine RBI in his last seven contests. Jacobs is second on the Bisons with 47RBI on the season. He has reached base safely in his last 11 games, hitting .295 (13-44) with four doubles, six walks and nine runs scored.
ZIPPITY DUDA: Last night, OF LUCAS DUDA went 2-4 with yet another home run. The Triple-A rookie now has seven home runs in his last 10 games. Since joining the Bisons on June 14, Duda has had a hit in 17 of his 21 appearances. He has 23RBI in those 21 games and his 15 extra-base hits give him a .750 slugging percentage.
METS UPDATE: The Mets (47-38) lost the final game in the three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds last night, 3-1. OF ANGEL PAGAN went 2-4 with a home run to account for the only run for the Mets. New York has an off day today and will begin a three-game set against the Atlanta Braves on Friday night at Citi Field (7:10 p.m.). New York trails Atlanta by just three games in the NL East division.
