Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The fifth-place IronPigs (35-52) play Game One of a mini two-game series against the second-place Syracuse Chiefs (49-39) -- Washington's top affiliate. With a 4-2 loss as Coca-Cola Park last night, the 'Pigs snapped their (tied for) season-high, three-game winning streak but still won the series against Pawtucket, 3-1. Still, Lehigh Valley is just 5-11 in its last 16 contests... Syracuse -- which swept a two-game series in the Valley 7/1-7/2 -- lost last night 6-2 to split its four-game home series against Buffalo. The Chiefs have gone just 8-10 in their last 18 affairs.
RHP Ty Taubenheim (0-1, 4.00) will start for LHV against RHP Shairon Martis (5-5, 4.04).
First-Pitch is at 7 p.m.
The Pigs are now a season-high 16.0 GB -- their largest deficit since they ended 2008 at 33.0 GB
