International League News & Notes

Published on July 8, 2010 under International League (IL1) News Release

ZIPPITY-DUDA: In just three weeks at the Triple-A level, OF Lucas Duda has already written himself in the Bisons record books. Duda became just the fifth player in the 125-year history of the team to hit a home run in five consecutive games. Duda went deep in each game from June 28 - July 2, earning him International League Batter of the Week honors. The 24-year old has not stopped hitting since, with two more homers in the five games since the streak ended. Since his promotion from Double-A Binghamton on June 14, Duda has 23 RBI in just 21 games. He's also hit .329 (25-76) with 15 extra-base hits and a .750 slugging percentage.

MISCH-IN IMPOSSIBLE: Bisons LHP Pat Misch continues to be the ace of the Bisons pitching staff. The southpaw has won four straight starts and is now 9-3 with a 3.12 ERA in 17 outings for Buffalo. Last night, Misch allowed just two unearned runs in a complete-game victory over Syracuse. It's the second nine-inning complete game for Misch this season. The Bisons All-Star is currently 1st in the International League in innings pitched (112.1), 3rd in wins (9) and 10th in ERA (3.12). Misch leads the Bisons with 12 quality starts on the season.

THE HOMERING HERD: The Bisons have 12 home runs in the first seven games in July. The club now has 93 blasts on the season, tied with Durham and Charlotte for the most in the International League. INF Mike Jacobs hit two out last night in Syracuse and now has four homers in his last four games. He's second on the club with 13 home runs, five behind the injured INF Mike Hessman. OF Lucas Duda has seven homers in his last 10 games and OF Fernando Martinez went deep in back-to-back games in Syracuse, July 4-5. As a team, the Bisons already have 13 more home runs then they hit in all of 2009 (80).

MARQUEZ RECALLED: Charlotte Knights pitcher Jeff Marquez has been recalled by the Chicago White Sox. For Marquez, 25, this will be his first career major league appearance. The right hander has had a solid season for the Knights going 7-4 with a 4.02 ERA (42 ER/94.0 IP) in 17 starts for the Knights. Marquez made just 11 starts for Charlotte in 2009 before undergoing season ending elbow surgery. He takes the roster spot of White Sox pitcher Jake Peavy who was placed on the disabled list with a detached latissimus dorsi muscle in his right posterior shoulder.

TORRES VS. DURHAM: With a win this past Tuesday night vs. Durham, Knights RHP Carlos Torres improves to 4-1 in his career vs. the Bulls. Since 2008 Torres has compiled a 2.45 ERA (12 ER/44.0 IP) with 45 strikeouts in 9 games (6 starts) against Durham. Over that same time period the Knights have struggled against the Bulls overall, going 17-32.

AGAINST THE DIVISION: If the Knights are hoping to make a charge towards first place in the IL South Division they certainly will have the opportunity to do so. Over their remaining 56 games they will play the majority of them against their division rivals. The Knights have 15 games vs. Durham, 14 vs. Gwinnett and 7 games vs. Norfolk. So far this season the Knights have compiled a 12-16 record vs. the IL South.

STARTING POINT: Not including yesterday's emergency spot start from RHP Kyle McCulloch, Knights starters are 12-4 with a 3.25 ERA (49 ER/133.1 IP) in the last 22 games. During that span, the rotation has worked at least 6.0 IP 17 times and allowed two runs or less 16 times. During that same time period the Knights have had two different pitchers named the IL Pitcher of the Week in RHP Carlos Torres and RHP Matt Zaleski. Over the past 21 games Lucas Harrell and Daniel Hudson each have had three-game win streaks.

GOEDERT DONE: Last night's solo HR for Jared Goedert was his 20th of the season between Columbus (13) and Akron (7), tying his career high, which he set in 2007 between Lake County (16) and Kinston (4). He is currently one shy of his career high in doubles (23 in 2008 with Kinston).

CORD PLUGGED IN: Cord Phelps has hit safely in eight straight games (.400, 12-30) and 11 of the last 12 (.408, 20-49). He has scored 11 times, while hitting seven doubles and two triples in the last 12 games (seven multi-hit games in last 12).

NOT MUCH FURTHER: Columbus needs just five wins over the rest of the season (57 games) to eclipse last year's total, when they set a franchise low with 57 wins. If the Clippers win their next four games, they'd have 57 wins by the All-Star Break.

STOWELL ON BOARD CLIPPERS' SHIP: The Clippers added reliever Bryce Stowell from Akron on Monday (7/5), their 76th roster move of the season (76th move last season came on 5/29; had 124 through 7/8). Stowell was 1-0 with seven saves (in seven tries) and had yet to give up a run in 14 appearances with the Aeros (22.1 IP, 15 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 11 BB, 33 K), while being named to the Eastern League All-Star Team. With Kinston, Stowell was 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA in 11 games (25.1 IP, 16 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 8 BB, 41 K).

GOING DEEP: Durham has 93 homers after hitting two yesterday in a 6-4 win over the Charlotte Knights. That's tied with Charlotte for the IL lead. Dan Johnson homered for the third time in three games. He now has 23 homers and 77 RBI, both League-leading totals, while playing 77 games.

HITTING THEIR STRIDE: Durham won yesterday despite being outhit 10-8. Durham has been outhit by the opposition in eight of the past nine games. Durham has managed to go 6-3 during this stretch.

DEFENSE DANDY: Durham played another errorless game yesterday, and both games in the short two-game set against Charlotte. The Bulls have made only 41 errors in 86 games. That's fewer errors than any club in the International League.

FUTURE IS NOW: Desmond Jennings and Jeremy Hellickson are headed to Sunday's Futures Game in Anaheim. Hellickson has two wins and a no-decision since receiving the honor. Since being named, Jennings is 20-for-60 (.333). Manager Charlie Montoyo has been named to coach for the World Team. Hellickson will miss his start this Saturday, and Brian Baker (7-0 2.50) will start in his place.

FASHIONABLY LATE: The International League announced that G-Braves 3B Wes Timmons has been selected to play in the 2010 Triple-A All-Star Game in Lehigh Valley, PA, on July 14. Timmons makes his second consecutive IL All -Star appearance, joining Gwinnett DH Barbaro Canizares (3 straight IL All-Star nods) and RP Michael Dunn (1st time IL All Star) on the squad.

P.O.W. FOR REDMOND: Gwinnett pitcher Todd Redmond was named the International League's Pitcher of the Week for the period from June 28-July 4. Redmond is the third G-Brave to receive an IL weekly award in 2010, joining Chris Resop (May 10-16) and Matt Young (June 21-27) - a record in franchise history for one year. Redmond started two games for Gwinnett last week, going 1-0 in 13.0 IP against Columbus and Durham. He yielded just 7 hits, 1 R/ER and 3 BB while striking out 10 in the two starts.

MAJOR WORK FOR MINOR: New G-Braves starter and 2009 1st round pick Mike Minor had his second shutdown start in as many outings. He has now allowed just 2 R/ER in 12.2 IP while striking out 15. Only former G-Braves Tommy Hanson and Charlie Morton have struck out more in their initial pair of starts (both with 17 K through 2 starts), although Morton allowed 4 R/ER overall and Hanson went just 10.0 IP total in the pair's first two starts of 2009.

TOPS FOR BARBARO: G-Braves DH/1B Barbaro Canizares went 2-for-4 in yesterday's loss to Norfolk, raising his batting average to .319 - the top mark in the International League. That mark is also good for 6th place in all of Triple-A Baseball (for batters with at least 250 AB), cementing the Cuban native's selection to his third consecutive IL All-Star squad. Canizares has multi-hit games in both contests this homestand (5-for-8 with 3 R, HR and 4 RBI, overall), and has reached base in 14 straight games (from 6/24-7/7).

FORMER INDIANS NOW MAJOR LEAGUE ALL-STARS: Five former Indianapolis Indians have been selected to take part in the 2010 Major League All-Star Game. RHP Evan Meek, who played with the Indians during the 2008 and 2009 seasons will represent the Pittsburgh Pirates, closer Matt Capps, who pitched briefly for the Tribe in 2008 will represent the Washington Nationals, INF/OF Jose Bautista, who played with the Tribe during the 2005, 2006 and 2008 seasons, will represent the Toronto Blue Jays, OF Corey Hart, who played in 121 games for the Tribe in 2004, will represent the Milwaukee Brewers and INF Ty Wigginton, who played in Indianapolis during the 2005 season, will represent the Baltimore Orioles.

FORMER INDIANS NOW MINOR LEAGUE ALL-STARS: Along with current Indians' C Erik Kratz and manager Frank Kremblas, several other former Indianapolis Indians players will be making All-Star appearances at the Minor League level this season. Joining Kremblas and Kratz on the 2010 International League squad is former Tribe OF Jeff Salazar, while former Indians' infielder Luis Cruz will suit up for the Pacific Coast League All-Star Team. Salazar, now with Triple-A Norfolk, suited up for the Indians in 2009 and collected 43 runs, 85 hits, 10 home runs, 39 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 84 games. Cruz, currently with Triple-A Nashville, also played with the Indians during the 2009 season where he posted a .253 average with 58 hits, 28 runs, 15 doubles, and 23 RBI in 66 games after turning in a .325 average with 19 runs, 10 doubles, three home runs and 15 RBI in just 32 games with the Tribe in 2008. Two other former Indians will also be making All-Star appearances at a different level as INF Tagg Bozied and C/INF Hector Gimenez will both suit up in the Double-A Eastern League All-Star Game. Bozied, now with Reading, posted excellent numbers in limited time with the Tribe last season as he hit .288 (62-for-215) with 32 runs, 17 doubles, five home runs and 18 RBI in just 56 games with the Indians, while Gimenez, now with Double-A Altoona, batted .268 (45-for-168) with 16 runs, 12 doubles, two home runs and 20 RBI in 48 games with the Tribe during the 2009 season as well.

MOVING UP THE CHARTS: Following his 2-for-5, three RBI contest against the Louisville Bats on Tuesday, Tribe OF Brandon Moss now has 46 RBI on the season, which ranks him just outside the Top 10 RBI leaders in the International League this season. Moss has also quickly asserted himself as one of the most consistent offensive performers on the Indians' current roster. The Georgia native leads the team in games played (81), at-bats (289), runs scored (39), hits (70), home runs (11), RBI (46) and total bases (122). Moss' 2010 home run and RBI totals have already surpassed his final tallies in both categories for the Pittsburgh Pirates during the 2009 campaign when the outfielder hit only seven home runs to go along with 41 total RBI in 133 games played.

PROFESSIONAL APPROACH AT THE PLATE: After hitting only .182 (30-for-165) with two home runs and nine RBI in 54 games for Pittsburgh Pirates, Tribe 3B Akinori Iwamura was designated for assignment by the Pirates on June 16 and was then optioned to Indianapolis on June 23. Since arriving in Indianapolis on June 27, Iwamura has posted a .273 batting average (9-for-33) with four runs scored, three extra-base hits (one double, one triple, one home run), three RBI and a Triple-A-best 11 walks in 11 games. Iwamura has also performed well in the clutch in his limited action with the Indians, as the infielder has hit .333 (6-for-18) with runners on, .333 (2-for-6) with runners on with two outs, .300 (3-for-10) with runners in scoring position and .500 (2-for-4) with runners in scoring position with two outs.

WHAT CAN BROWN DO FOR YOU?: Top prospect OF Domonic Brown has hit safely in his last 12 G (19-45, .422-4-12, 3 2B, 9 R) and in 13 of 14 G since his first-ever promotion to the Triple-A level on 6/25. In addition, the 2010 USA Futures Team selection has combined to hit in 26 of his last 28 G overall (37-99, .374-9-26, 6 2B, 23 R).

THAT'S HOW WE DREW IT UP: RHP Drew Carpenter won his franchise-leading 18th game Monday (W, 6.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R), improving to 7-6 for the season. He has not been scored upon in his last 2 GS and hasn't allowed a R in 14.0 IP (2nd longest of 2010 for LHV).

THE MIGHTY TRACY: 2010 IL All-Star 1B Andy Tracy has hit safely in 19 of his last 24 G (30-81, .370-4-20, 9 2B, 19 R). Since his return from the DL on 5/27, Tracy is batting .357-9-35 in 41 G (46-129, 11 2B, 2 3B, 29 R, 31 BB, HBP) -- with a .484 OBA and a .693 SLG. Traditionally a slow starter, the Bowling Green native has also hit .331-10-38 in his last 51 G (55-166, 14 2B, 3 3B, 34 BB) raising his average from .198 (5/4) to .290. In the month of June in his LHV career (3 seasons) he is .364-15-63 in 83 G (100-275, 29 2B, 2 3B, 57 BB, 41 R).

REHABBIN' PHILS: The IronPigs just finished a stretch of four straight days with a ML rehab appearance: 7/4, J.A. Happ, recovering from a forearm strain allowed four runs on six hits and four walks in 5.1 innings. 7/5-7/6, Ryan Madson, rehabbing from a broken toe, threw 1.2 innings over two games allowing a run on one hit and two walks with two strikeouts. 7/7, Carlos Ruiz, coming back from a concussion, went 0-for-2 with a walk in his first game action since June 18.

A SERIES WIN: With last night's 6-1 victory, the Bats won the six-game home/road split series with Indy 5-1. It marked their first series win since they took three of four from SWB in Louisville from 5/22 to 5/25. Entering the Indy series they were coming off of a series loss to Durham, which was their first series loss since 5/31-6/2 at Columbus when the Clippers took three of four from Louisville. Prior to the DUR loss, the Bats had split six straight four-game series and entered the final game in the first five series with an opportunity to take the series, 3-to-1. Overall, the Bats are 4-7-11 in series this season.

DORN DOESN'T MISS A BEAT: Danny Dorn was activated from the DL on 6/25 after originally being placed on the DL on 5/12 with a fractured left hand. At the time of his injury, he was batting .295 with 4 home runs and 16 RBI. In the eight games since coming off the DL, Dorn is hitting .433 (13-30) with three doubles, a homer and 3 RBI. His season average is now at .331. Last season in 112 games with the Bats, he batted .275 with 14 HR and 47 RBI.

STREAK STOPS AT FIVE: Tuesday's loss to IND ended the Bats' five game winning streak, which was tied for their longest of the season. They also won five straight from 5/7-5/11 when Louisville took three straight at home vs. ROC and two vs. BUF. Last year when the Bats finished 84-58 and won the IL West, their biggest win streak was five games, which they accomplished three different times. The Bats have currently won six of their past seven and sit just 1.5 games back of TOL for third place and three games back of IND for second place in the IL West. The Bats are seven back of SYR who currently lead the Wild Card standings. Louisville has not won six straight games since they won eight straight from 8/1 to 8/8 in 2008. That season the Bats won a franchise-best 88 games and won their first of two consecutive IL West crowns.

SWEET'S 800th GAME: Last Saturday's game marked manager Rick Sweet's 800th game in his Louisville career. At 429-376, he is the winningest manager in Louisville franchise history. The back-to-back IL Manager of the Year also has 1,478 wins in his career which ranks fifth on the career Active Minor League wins list.

YOU COMPLETE ME: Monday's nine inning complete game one-hit shutout at Charlotte was Chris Tillman's second complete game shutout of the season. Tillman is the first Tides pitcher to toss two nine inning complete game shutouts in the same season since Brian Bohanon accomplished the feat during the 1997 season. Norfolk had not had a pitcher toss two complete game shutouts (either seven innings or nine innings) in the same year since Dicky Gonzalez tossed two seven inning shutouts during the 2001 season.

11th TIME WAS THE CHARM: Norfolk started the year 0-10 in road series finales before snapping the skid with a 2-0 win Monday afternoon at Charlotte. The Tides backed that up with a 10-2 win at Gwinnett in a series finale Wednesday, upping Norfolk's record in series finales on the season to 11-13. The Tides have gone 9-3 in series finales at home.

GOING STREAKING: With two hits yesterday, Rhyne Hughes upped his hitting streak to 10 games, over which he's hit .357 (15-for-42) with three home runs, five RBI and 10 runs scored. Hughes' 10-game streak is just one shy of matching Norfolk's season-high, 11-game streaks accomplished by Hughes (April 8-19) and Corey Patterson (April 30 - May 11).

BECKETT ON TAP FOR SUNDAY: Boston Red Sox RHP Josh Beckett will make a rehab start for the PawSox this Sunday when the PawSox host the Syracuse Chiefs (Washington) at 1:05 pm at McCoy Stadium. Beckett has been on Boston's disabled list since May 19 with a lower back strain. He is 1-1 with a 7.29 ERA in 8 GS for the Red Sox this season. Josh threw a 55-pitch simulated game in Tampa Bay on Tuesday vs. batters from the Gulf Coast Red Sox as the Gulf Coast game that afternoon between the Orioles and the Red Sox was postponed due to rain. Beckett came into this season with a 65-34 record in 122 starts for the Red Sox from 2006-2009 and during that time his 65 wins ranked 3rd most in all of Major League Baseball behind only Roy Halladay (69) and CC Sabathia (67). Furthermore, he and Javier Vazquez are the only pitchers in baseball to record at least 150 strikeouts during each of the last seven seasons from 2003-2009. Beckett, 30, was the 2003 World Series MVP for the Florida Marlins and is a two-time American League All-Star (2007 & 2009) with the Red Sox. He has a 7-3 mark with a 3.07 ERA in 14 career postseason games including 3 CG shutouts in the playoffs.

ROAD WOES: Pawtucket's troubles on the road have continued as they have now lost 4 of 5 away games and 7 of their last 9 away games. Their road record has fallen to 14-30 - the worst in the IL. The PawSox have also dropped 12 of their last 16 away games and 20 of their last 27 on the road since May 19.

A HEALTHY HOME: On the other hand, the PawSox have won 5 of their last 6 home games as well as 7 of 9 at McCoy and 19 of their last 27 home games since May 11. Their home record of 25-17 is a season-high of 8-games over .500 at McCoy.

S(WING)ING WHEN IT COUNTS: The Red Wings have struggled the last 14 games getting the clutch hit batting .129 (12-for-93) with runners in scoring position. Rochester left 87 runners on base during these 14 games (6.2 per game).

I NEED SOME HOME COOKIN': The Red Wings have lost seven in a row and 12 of their last 13 games at Frontier Field. The last time Rochester lost 12 of 13 at home was June 5-27, 1999 when they lost 14 of 15 games at 1 Morrie Silver Way. The Red Wings have just a 14-28 record at Frontier Field this season which is the worst home record of any team in the International League. The last time Rochester had a losing record at Frontier Field was 2002 when the Red Wings had a 30-41 record.

WHIPLASH: The Red Wings pitching staff has struggled to keep the opposing batters in the ballpark. Rochester has allowed at least one home run in 28 of their last 30 games. The Wings hurlers have allowed 52 home runs in those 30 games. Prior to this 30-game stretch Rochester didn't allow a home run for 53 consecutive innings (6 games). Rochester has allowed 103 home runs this season which leads the International League.

DEAD WOOD: The Red Wings offense has struggled the last 21 games batting .201 (137-for-682) as a team. Rochester has scored just 52 runs in those 21 games (2.5 runs per game) and has just a 3-18 record. This comes after an 11-game stretch were the Red Wings batted .312 (122-for-391) as a team.

BAD IN JUNE, BETTER IN JULY: The Yankees were flat out bad on the road in the month of June dropping 10 out of 14 games including losing three of four games in series at Charlotte, Lehigh Valley and Pawtucket. The fortunes in July seem to be much better for the club who has already matched the number of wins in the month of June. The Yankees are 4-1 on the road in July having split the final two games of the series against the PawSox and picked up three straight to open up the club's current six game trip. Part of the reason for the turnaround is the fact that Sranton/Wilkes-Barre finally has their run differential for the 2010 season in the black. The Yankees picked up a 1-0 opening night win over the Buffalo Bisons back on April 8th and prior to Wednesday's 7-2 win over Rochester, the game one win was the only time all season the team enjoyed a positive run differential. The Yankees run differential is now +2, sitting at 359 for and 357 against.

JORGE KEEPS GOING AND GOING: Jorge Vazquez had his 12 game hit streak stopped in the final game of the four game series at Pawtucket on July 2nd but the infielder has kept on hitting. With his two hit effort on Tuesday, Vazquez has now hit safely in 17 of his last 18 games. He has four straight two hit games and seven RBI in the series with Rochester. During his 18 game run Vazquez is hitting .333 (25-75) with 7 R, 8 2B, 5 HR and 18 RBI. The slugger has raised his average over the last 18 games from .182 to .301. Vazquez's streak of homering in three straight games was halted on Wednesday night, leaving him one shy of the SWB franchise record for home runs in consecutive games. Tom Marsh was the first SWB player to homer in four consecutive games from May 2nd - 5th in 1993 and Tomas Perez homered in four straight from May 24th - 27th during the 2000 season. The slugger still had a tremendous four game series against Rochester hitting .438 (7-16) with 5 R, 2 2B, 3 HR and 10 RBI.

DOUBLING UP ON THE YARD WORK: Juan Miranda and Jorge Vazquez each hit solo homers for the Yankees in the fourth inning of SWB's 10-1 opening game win over Rochester on Sunday night. It was the first time all season the Yankees have hit multiple homers in the same inning. Miranda led off the Yankees fourth with his eighth of the season into the Rochester bullpen and two batters later Vazquez delivered his fourth over the wall in center field. The 2009 Yankees hit two homers in the same inning four times. The '08 IL champs hit three homers in the same inning and hit back-to-back homers on five other occasions.

ONE MORE FOR THE FRANCHISE MARK: Jonathan Albaladejo picked up the save on Saturday night with a scoreless ninth inning preserving the Yankees 5-3 lead and helping the team move back in front of the Chiefs for first place in the IL North. With the 1.1 scoreless innings turned in at PNC Field, Albaladejo moved past Chuck Ricci and now tops the list of SWB closers with 26 saves in a single season, setting the franchise record. Ricci picked up his 25 saves in 1995. Next on the list for Albaladejo is the 39 career saves of Jay Baller who tops the franchise list in that category. Albaladejo had 11 saves for the Yankees in 2009 and currently has 38 in his Scranton/Wilkes-Barre career. The Yankees right hander is also within striking distance of the IL single season record of 38 held by Matt Whiteside of the '04 Richmond Braves.

HOT BOTTS: Chiefs outfielder/first baseman Jason Botts is hitting .514 (18-35) over his last 10 games with three homers and 13 RBI. Botts has had multi-hit games in seven out of his last 10 and five out of his last six. The 29-year-old began the year with the Camden Riversharks of the independent Atlantic League. Botts batted .342 with three homers and 20 RBI in 41 games with the Riversharks before signing with the Nationals on June 10.

CHIEFS BEING THIEVES: Syracuse has stolen 88 bases this season, the second highest total in the League behind Durham (95). The Chiefs have been caught stealing more than anyone in the IL (44). Pete Orr (18), Boomer Whiting (16) and Justin Maxwell (11) all have double-digit steals for the Chiefs. Whiting has been caught stealing eight times, most on the team.

HOME WOES: After beginning the year by winning five out of their first six home series, Syracuse has only won one out of their last seven series at Alliance Bank Stadium. The Chiefs most recent series win at their home ballpark came against Pawtucket between June 25th and June 28th. Syracuse won the series three games to one over the PawSox.

MR. MUD HEN: On Tuesday night, Larry Parrish passed Cal Ermer as the winningest manager in Toledo professional baseball history. Parrish has guided the Hens to a 542-522 record (.509) since 2003 and currently ranks second in Toledo history in games managed at 1,064 (Ermer - 1,115). This is Parrish's 13th season overall as a manager. He has a career record of 788-771. Along with his Governors' Cup titles with Toledo, Parrish led the Single-A Niagara Falls Rapids to a New York-Penn League championship in 1993 and the Double-A Jacksonville Suns to the 1996 Southern League championship. He managed 185 games for the Detroit Tigers from 1998-99, compiling a record of 82-104.

UNWANTED TERRITORY: Before defeating the Columbus Clippers on Tuesday, the Mud Hens were mired in an 11-game losing streak. It was tied for the longest modern era (1965-present) losing streak in franchise history, and tied for the third-longest losing streak in all of baseball this season. The Jupiter Hammerheads of the Florida State League lost 15 straight in May, while the Pittsburgh Pirates were losers of 12 consecutive games in June.

BACK, BACK, BACK...GONE: All-Star OF Jeff Frazier has been selected to participate in the Triple-A Home Run Derby, scheduled for Monday, July 12 at 7 p.m. eastern time at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Frazier has 16 home runs on the season, tied for third in the IL. There will be eight participants in the Derby; three from the IL, three from the PCL, and two local high school qualifiers from Lehigh Valley.

HEN EGGS: INF Will Rhymes is batting .404 (23-for-57) with five doubles, two triples and seven RBI over his last 14 games...... C Robinzon Diaz is batting .328 (21-for-64) over his last 20 games...... 1B/OF Ryan Strieby has hit safely in each of his last eight games, batting .400 (12-for-30) with three doubles, a home run and three RBI...... SS Brent Dlugach is hitting .344 (11-for-32) with four doubles and three RBI over his last nine games...... RHP Casey Fien has compiled a 1.64 ERA (11.0 IP/ 2 ER) and nine strikeouts over his last eight outings.
