TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons face the Charlotte Knights in the third game of a four-game series at Knights Stadium (2:15 p.m.). The Herd has lost the first two games of the set, 5-2 and 3-2. The Bisons are now 2-4 on an eight-game roadtrip that began with a four-game split in Gwinnett. Following Monday's game, the Bisons will return home for a five-game homestand against the Syracuse Chiefs and the Rochester Red Wings.
vs. KNIGHTS: The Bisons and Knights have split the first six games of their eight-game season series. Buffalo won three of four from Charlotte at Coca-Cola Field, May 18-21, while the Knights have won the first two games of this series. Buffalo is just 5-13 in their last 18 games at Knights Stadium.
DISH ON MISCH: LHP PAT MISCH leads the Bisons club with 90.1 innings of work and is tied for the team lead with six wins. Misch is coming off a victory on Tuesday in Gwinnett as he allowed just three runs in eight innings of work. The southpaw has allowed three of fewer runs in 11 of his 14 outings this season and the Bisons are 10-4 in games he starts. Misch has worked at least six innings in 10 of his 14 starts this season.
WELCOME BACK: LHP RAUL VALDES returned to the Bisons last night and struck out a season-high seven batters in four innings of work. Valdes was optioned from New York on Thursday after a three-month stay in Queens. The southpaw began the season with the Bisons and pitched in relief in each of the first two games of the year.
SOLID RELIEF: RHP JOSE DE LA TORRE has pitched a scoreless inning of relief in each of the first two games of this series. The reliever has now made five consecutive scoreless appearances out of the Bisons bullpen (4.2IP). On the season, De La Torre has 19 strikeouts in 19.0 innings of work.
BISONS BITS: INF JUSTIN TURNER has reached base in 25 of 28 games with the Bisons since being claimed off waivers on May 27. He currently has a .355 on-base percentage with Buffalo...RHP JOHN LUJAN has 31 strikeouts in 25.2 innings or 10.9 K/9.0 innings...RHP MANNY ACOSTA has struck out at least one batter in each of his last six outings (11K, 6.2IP).
METS UPDATE: The Mets (42-32) lost to the Twins on Saturday, 6-0, from Citi Field. LHP JOHAN SANTANA fell in defeat to his former team after allowing five runs in six innings of work. New York was held to just three singles with two coming from OF JEFF FRANCOEUR. New York hosts Minnesota in the rubber match of their three game series on Sunday afternoon at 1:10 p.m.
