Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the second-game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Park (7:05 p.m.). The Herd will look to even the series following a 7-3 defeat in last night's opener. After this four-game set, the Bisons will have rare back-to-back off days before starting an eight-game homestand on Thursday. On the mound tonight for Buffalo is LHP Aaron Laffey. The southpaw returned to the Herd on Monday and allowed four runs over six innings of work. Lehigh Valley will counter with LHP Brian Mazone.
HE'S NO JOKE: Optioned from Cleveland, LHP Aaron Laffey's start on Monday was his first in a Bisons uniform in over three months. Laffey began the year 3-1 with a 2.77ERA in five starts with the team, prompting a promotion to Cleveland on April 28. At the Triple-A level this year, Laffey has limited hitters to a .246 average and just one home run in 32.0 innings of work. On Monday, Laffey allowed four runs on seven hits in six innings in a no-decision against Indianapolis.
ON THE SNYD: OF Brad Snyder collected two more RBI last night, giving him a team-high 53. Clutch all season, Snyder has hit .290 (29-100) with 39RBI with runners in scoring position and .306 (15-49) with 20RBI with runners in scoring position and two outs. Since the All-Star break, Snyder has hit .299 (23-77) with six doubles, two home runs, four home runs and 17RBI in 20 games. On the season, he leads the Herd in extra-base hits (37) and home runs (11).
ALL-STAR: Buffalo's 2008 All-Star LHP Rich Rundles has not allowed a run in six consecutive outings. Since July 26, Rundles has allowed just two hits while striking out seven in 4.1 innings of work. The stretch includes two of his four saves on the season. Rundles leads Bisons relievers in games (45), wins (5) and holds (8).
BISONS BITS: RHP Bubbie Buzachero has earned a save in three straight appearances...C Chris Gimenez has reached base safely in 14 of his last 16 games, hitting .345 (19-55) since the All-Star break.
