TODAY'S GAME: Today, the Buffalo Bisons face the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons in the final game of a two-game series at Lackawanna County Stadium (2:00 p.m.). Last night, Joe Inglett led the Herd to a 9-3 victory over the Red Barons with two triples and five runs driven in. With the win, the Bisons now hold the 8-7 edge in the season-series with Scranton/WB with the final game between the teams today. Looking for their fifth straight win overall, RHP Jeremy Guthrie will start for Buffalo. The Bisons leader in wins, strikeouts and innings pitched, Guthrie took a loss on Tuesday against Syracuse. The Red Barons will counter with LHP Mike Bascik, who earned a no-decision against Rochester on Tuesday (6.0IP, 9H, 2ER).
THREE AND NINE: The Bisons now have a three game lead in the International League North division with only nine games remaining. Along with the Herd's win last night, the Rochester Red Wings fell to Pawtucket, 8-5. After today's games, Buffalo will host the Wings for their final two home games of the season.
TWO TRIPLES: Joe Inglett tripled twice Saturday, the second time he's accomplished the feat this year (8/2 vs. Indy). Prior to this season, there had been just 12 other two-triple performances in the Bisons Modern Era. David Roberts is the only other Bison to do it twice. Inglett's nine triples on the year are the most for a Bison in a season since Zach Sorensen (2002, 12).
SUPER JOE: With his big game last night, Joe Inglett continues to be the hottest Bisons hitter. He has 12 hits in his last 21 at -bats (.571) with eight RBI and eight runs scored. In just four games, Inglett has raised his average from .304 to .323.
GOING DEEP: Ryan Garko hit his 19th home run of the season last night. He is now tied with Andy Abad for second on the team in homers, one behind Ernie Young's 20 blasts. As a team, the Bisons have 173 long balls this season, second in the International League (Durham, 186).
LEFTY RETURNS: LHP Jason Stanford made his first appearance of the season with the Herd last night, allowing a run in two innings of relief. Stanford is working back from reconstructive arm surgery last season. With his outing, the lefty has now pitched for the Bisons in each of the last five seasons, going a combined 14-5 with a 3.06ERA in 29 games.
VS. THE NORTH: With a win today, the Bisons can bring their record against the International League North division to the .500 mark. Right now the Herd is 35-36 against their divisional foes.
