TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons host the Scranton/WB Yankees in the second game of a four-game series from Dunn Tire Park (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is looking to bounce back from a tough 15-4 loss in the series opener on Tuesday night. On the hill for the Bisons will be RHP Bubbie Buzachero, who last pitched on Monday morning and threw an inning of shutout relief. Scranton/WB will go with RHP Tim Lavigne.
MR. BUBBIE: Tonight, RHP Bubbie Buzachero is making just his fourth start in 217 games as a professional. But, it will be his second start this year as he pitched four shutout innings in a start on May 30 in Indianapolis (2H, 2K). Overall, Bubbie has not allowed a run in his last six appearances, covering 11.2 innings of work (5H, BB, 7K).
THE FRANCHISE: Ben Francisco collected his 20th multi-hit performances of the season last night. He is one of only five IL hitters with 20+ multi-hit games, led by Toledo's Timo Perez (23). Francisco's two hits extended his hit streak to 17 games, during which he has averaged .394 (28-71). His .347 batting average is the second highest in the IL (ROC -Jose Morales, .350).
ALWAYS ON: Luis Rivas singled in the bottom of the ninth in Tuesday night's game to extend his on-base streak to 22 games (the longest streak for a Bisons player this season). Since May 11, Rivas has hit .341 (29-85) with 5HR and 10RBI. He has also drawn 15 walks during the stretch, giving him a .446 on-base percentage in the 22 games.
MULHERN, MULHERN: First baseman Ryan Mulhern connected with a pair of doubles last night, his 17th and 18th on the year. He is now T2nd in the IL in two-baggers, only two behind Toledo's Timo Perez. Mulhern's team-high 36RBI are T6th in the International League while his .552 slugging percentage is 2nd.
M. MILLER TIME: RHP Matt Miller has not been scored upon in his last eight outings. Since allowing five runs in his first four games, Miller has shutout opponents over his last 7.0 innings (8G, 3H, 3BB, 12K). Right-handed batters have just three hits in 24 at-bats off the side-armer, good for just a .125 batting average.
CHOO-CHOO: Buffalo outfielder Shin-Soo Choo is currently on a 10-game hit streak, the third longest of a Bisons player this season. Since May 22, he has averaged .428 (18-42). He's hitting .388 (14-36) with 7RBI in 9 games as the team's DH.
