TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Bisons host the Pawtucket Red Sox in the first game of a two-game series at Coca-Cola Field (6:05 p.m.). The Bisons were swept in a two-game set with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees to begin their eight-game homestand. On Tuesday, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs visit Coca-Cola Field for a four-game series.
vs. RED SOX: The Bisons are an even 5-6 against the Red Sox this season. The road team has dominated this series in 2012 as the Herd is 4-1 at McCoy Stadium and the PawSox are 5-1 at Coca-Cola Field. Pawtucket swept a four-game series their last trip to Buffalo, June 14-17.
OH JENRRY: RHP JENRRY MEJIA makes his sixth start of the season and third since returning to the rotation at the end of July. Mejia tossed 4.1 shutout innings on Monday in Syracuse. He allowed just three hits and struck out a pair in the no-decision. As a starter this year, Mejia is 0-1 with a 1.16ERA and only 15 hits allowed in 23.1 innings of work.
SILKY: INF JOSH SATIN extended his hit streak to 10 games last night with a single in four trips. He's the third Bison to put together a double-digit hit streak this year, following Valentino Pascucci's 10-gamer in April and Vinny Rottino's 20-game stretch in May. Since July 31, the slugger has averaged .459 (17-37) with six doubles, three home runs and 11RBI.
UPPER DECKER: OF MATT DEN DEKKER has posted multi-hit performances in each of his last three games. The outfielder has hit in six of his last seven games with a .346 (9-26) average and eight RBI since August 6. den Dekker has also scored a run in six straight contests and now has 31 runs in only 55 games with the Bisons this season.
BISONS BITS: LHP C.J. NITKOWSKI has not allowed an earned run in his first four outings with the Bisons (4.0IP)...INF JOSH SATIN is tied for 5th in the IL with his .302 average and leads all IL hitters with a .405 on-base percentage...OF FRED LEWIS has scored 66 runs on the season, 3rd most in the International League...RHP FERNANDO CABRERA leads all IL relievers with 48 games, 19 saves and 40 games finished.
METS UPDATE : The Mets (54-60) lost by a 9-3 score to the Braves last night. LHP JOHAN SANTANA allowed eight of those runs in his return to New York's rotation. Former Bisons INF RUBEN TEJADA had two hits including his 17th double of the season. The Mets host the Braves at 8:05 p.m. tonight.
