Today's Game

This afternoon, the Bisons begin the 130th season of professional baseball in Buffalo on Opening Day against the Rochester Red Wings at Coca-Cola Field (2:05 p.m.). Today's game is the start of a four-game home-and-home series against the Herd's closest rival. Buffalo will host Rochester again Friday afternoon at 2:05 p.m.

vs. the Red Wings

The Bisons were 10-6 against Rochester last season. The Herd has taken the season series in each of the past five years, compiling a 49-31 record (.613 pct.) since 2010. Buffalo is 87-60 (.592) all-time against the Wings at Coca-Cola Field.

Opening Day

Today is the 28th Opening Day in the history of Coca-Cola Field. The Herd is 17-10 in the season's first game in Buffalo. The Bisons are 3-0 when opening up against Rochester, including victories in 2013 (12-7) and 2014 (6-3) over the Red Wings.

Albers gets Opening Day nod

LHP ANDREW ALBERS will make his Bisons' debut this afternoon. The southpaw has returned to affiliated baseball after spending all of 2014 pitching for the Hanwha Eagles of the Korean Baseball Organization. Albers was a 2013 International League All-Star for the Red Wings, posting an 11-5 record and a 2.86 ERA in 22 starts.

Chart Toppers

The Bisons Opening Day roster will feature last year's IL leaders in home runs, stolen bases and saves. INF ANDY WILKINS hit 30 homers for Charlotte while OF EZEQUIEL CARRERA swiped 43 bases for Toledo. Bisons' RHP BOBBY KORECKY saved 22 games for Buffalo in 2014. All three players were IL Postseason All-Stars.

The Bisons Opening Day features 22 players with Major League experience, including nine that wore a Blue Jays uniform in 2013. Two players have been MLB All-Stars in LHP RANDY WOLF (Phillies, 2003) and RHP STEVE DELABAR (Blue Jays, 2013). INF CHRIS COLABELLO was the 2013 IL Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year after hitting .352 with 24 home runs and 76 RBI for Rochester.

A Slam for a Grand

If a Bisons player hits a grand slam over the wall in today's Opening Day game, a lucky fan will win $10,000. The fan will be chosen at random by their seat location if a grand slam is hit. The Bisons have hit 44 total grand slams in the history of Coca-Cola Field including one on Opening Day. INF CHRIS CLAPINSKI hit a slam on April 16, 2004 against the Ottawa Lynx

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (1-1) fell to the Yankees, 4-3, on Wednesday after the Bombers scored three in the eighth inning. Former Bison R.A. Dickey allowed just one run in 6.1 innings of work in the no-decision.
