TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons host the Charlotte Knights in the first game of a four-game series from Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd defeated the Mud Hens yesterday afternoon in the bottom of the ninth with a walk-off two-run base hit from OF RAUL REYES. The win gave the Bisons a split of the season series with Toledo (4-4).
vs. KNIGHTS: Charlotte will be the final non-divisional opponent to visit Coca-Cola Field this season. The Bisons split a four-game set in Charlotte earlier this year (May 11-14). Since their return to the International League in 1998, Buffalo is 29-27 (.518) when they host the Knights.
McHUGH : RHP COLLIN McHUGH takes the hill for his seventh start of the season. The righty is coming off a no-decision in Pawtucket where he threw 6.0 innings and struck out six. McHugh has yet to record a decision at Coca-Cola Field but has a 2.61ERA and 14 strikeouts in 10.1 innings at home.
SILKY: INF JOSH SATIN had two hits and two walks last night and has now reached base at least three times in seven of his last 11 games. Satin also has a walk in eight straight contests (13 total walks) and 23 total free passes in his last 18 games. Satin's .406 on-base percentage is the second best in the International League, behind only Charlotte's Dan Johnson (.413).
STARTING STRONG: Since the All-Star break, Herd starters are 2-0 with a 2.66ERA in eight games. The group has combined to allow just 14 earned runs in 47.1 innings of work with 47 hits allowed and 43 strikeouts. The rotation has allowed four earned runs in just one of eight starts since the break.
BISONS BITS: INF ADAM LOEWEN extended his hit streak to six games with a base hit yesterday. The slugger has averaged .357 (10-28) with three home runs and four RBI since July 14...OF RAUL REYES and INF OSWALDO NAVARRO combined to go 2-2 with a double and 4RBI coming off the bench for the Herd in yesterday's contest...All 11 Bisons batters with a plate appearance yesterday recorded at least one base hit. This is the first time the Bisons have accomplished this feat since July 1 against Durham (12-6 Loss).
METS UPDATE : The Mets (47-45) defeated the Nationals yesterday by a score of 9-5. INF DAVID WRIGHT hit two homers and had five RBI. Former Bisons RHP R.A. DICKEY tossed 7.1 innings to pick up his NL-leading 13th win of the season. The Mets will begin a three-game series with the Dodgers tonight from Citi Field (7:10 p.m.).
