Laynce Nix to Continue Rehab Tonight at Coca-Cola Park

(Allentown, Pa.) - Phillies INF/OF Laynce Nix, recovering from a strained left calf injury that has sidelined him since May 10, is slated to continue a Major League rehab assignment when the Lehigh Valley IronPigs host the Columbus Clippers on Friday at 7:05 p.m. Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network is the exclusive sponsor of all Major League rehabilitation appearances at Coca-Cola Park.

Tickets for all upcoming IronPigs games can be purchased in-person at Coca-Cola Park, by calling (610) 841-PIGS or online at ironpigsbaseball.com. Prices for single-game start as low as $7 for General Admission, granting fans access to the Capital BlueCross Lawn seating area, the brand-new bar at the Red Robin Tiki Terrace & Oasis along with standing room only areas. Field Level reserved seats are just $10. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance as Coca-Cola Park was Minor League Baseball's most visited venue in 2011 with seating capacity reached or surpassed during 60 of the club's 68 home dates.

Nix, 31, began his current rehab assignment with Single-A Clearwater on July 12 and has batted .250 (4-for-16) with one home run and 4 RBIs in six games. Prior to sustaining the injury, Nix was off to a fast start at the plate with the Phillies, hitting .326 with two homers and 11 RBIs in 22 games.

Nix signed a two-year deal with the Phillies prior to this season after slugging a career-high 16 home runs in just 324 at-bats last year with Washington. He also established career-highs in games (124) and walks (23) last season.

Prior to his time with the Nationals, Nix paced Cincinnati in pinch hits during both the 2009 and 2010 seasons. In 2010, he hit a career-best .291 and started Game Three of the NLDS during Cincinnati's first playoff appearance since 1995.

The Houston, Texas native was formerly drafted by Texas in the 4th round of the 2000 draft and made his Major League debut with the Rangers in 2003. He was later dealt to Milwaukee with Francisco Cordero and Kevin Mench for Carlos Lee and Nelson Cruz on July 28, 2006. In portions of ten seasons and 629 games in the Major Leagues, he has hit .247 with 66 homers and 237 RBIs.

Friday's 7:05 p.m. game against Columbus also features a post-game Friday Night Fireworks display presented by Phoebe Ministries. The Main Gates are slated to open at 5:45 p.m.
