Today's Game
The Buffalo Bisons take on the Charlotte Knights in the second game of a four-game series from Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.). The Knights picked up the 11-6 victory in game one on Saturday night. This eight-game homestand will also include a four-game set with Indianapolis.
vs. Charlotte
The Bisons have now lost six straight home games against the Knights, dating back to May of 2011. Charlotte swept a four-game set from the Herd at Coca-Cola Field, July 20-23, 2012. The Bisons have not won a season series over the Knights since going 5-3 in the 2008 campaign.
Redmond Debuts
RHP TODD REDMOND makes his Bisons debut this afternoon. The veteran missed the first 41 games of 2013 on the disabled list with right shoulder impingement. Redmond has ranked in the Top 5 of the International League in strikeouts in each of the last three seasons, including 3rd in 2012 with 136 between Gwinnett and Louisville.
Dustin McGowan
RHP DUSTIN McGOWAN pitched a clean 1-2-3 inning in his Bisons debut last night, with two groundouts and a strikeout. The righty missed all of 2012 with plantar fasciitis in his right foot as well as all of 2009 and 2010 with arm injuries.
1-2 PUNCH
INF JIM NEGRYCH (.390) and INF LUIS JIMENEZ (.365) hold the top two batting averages in the International League. The duo is also 1-2 in the IL in on-base pct. with Negrych at .457 and Jimenez at .442. Negrych ranks tied for 3rd in doubles while Jimenez leads the IL in RBI (39) and is tied for 5th in home runs (9).
The Closer
RHP NEIL WAGNER is a perfect 11-for-11 closing out games this season, 2nd best in the International League. In his last 12 outings (13.2 IP), he has allowed just five hits while striking out 22. Righties are hitting just .108 (4-37) with 18 strikeouts and no extra-base hits.
Bisons Bits
RHP BOBBY KORECKY has been placed on the disabled list today...OF ANTHONY GOSE scored three times yesterday and now has scored four more times (34) than any other player in the International League...C JOSH THOLE'S .333 average is 6th-best in the IL, giving Buffalo three of the top six averages in the league.
The Blue Jays (17-26) lost to the Yankees on Saturday, 7-2. INF EDWIN ENCARNACION hit his 12th homer of the year while OF COLBY RASMUS drove in the other Toronto run. Former Bisons RHP R.A. DICKEY goes for the Jays against the Yanks today at 1:05 p.m.
