TODAY'S GAME: Today, the Buffalo Bisons face the Pawtucket Red Sox in the second game of a two-game series (1:05 p.m.). This afternoon's game will be played at McCoy Stadium after yesterday's 2-0 Bisons victory at Fenway Park in Boston for the annual "Futures at Fenway game." Following today's game, the Herd returns to Buffalo for its final homestand of the season. The club will play five against the Yankees and five more against the Red Wings.

vs. RED SOX: The Bisons are 7-8 against the Red Sox this season. A victory today would give them a season-split with Pawtucket, their second in three seasons. Buffalo has not won a season series since going 10-6 against the PawSox in 2008. The road team has won 11 of the 15 games in the matchup this season.

FAMILIA: RHP JEURYS FAMILIA makes his International League-best 26th start this afternoon. The righty is coming off arguably his best start of 2012 after allowing just four hits in seven shutout innings to beat Lehigh Valley on Tuesday. Familia also walked just one and struck out eight in the outing. Familia leads the Bisons with eight wins and is 9th in the IL with 108 strikeouts.

MONSTER TAMERS: The Bisons played a complete game in their 2-0 win over Pawtucket at Fenway Park yesterday. RHP COLLIN McHUGH allowed just five hits and no walks over seven shutout innings and the bullpen tossed two hitless frames of relief. INF JOSH RODRIGUEZ homered over the Green Monster and the club played errorless baseball in the field.

CLOSER: RHP FERNANDO CABRERA recorded his IL-leading 21st save yesterday, matching RHP Dale Thayer's 2011 total. It's the 5th-highest total in the Bisons' modern era. Cabrera has 29 saves in his Bisons' career, tying him with RHP BLAS MINOR for the most in the team's modern era. Cabrera's 227 strikeouts are the most for any Bisons reliever in the modern era.

BISONS NOTES: OF LUCAS DUDA has hit in five straight games with a .333 (6-18) average and a pair of RBI since August 14...LHP C.J. NITKOWSKI has not allowed an earned run over 13 appearances and 10.1 innings between the Bisons and Binghamton (AA)...INF JOSH SATIN walked twice yesterday to bring his on-base percentage back up to .400 (T1st in IL). Satin's 70 walks are 4th in the IL and just 10 behind teammate Valentino Pascucci (3rd in IL).

METS UPDATE : Like the Bisons, the Mets (57-63) picked up a 2-0 win on Saturday. New York topped rival Washington thanks to 7.1 shutout innings from former Bisons LHP JON NIESE. 1B IKE DAVIS hit his 22nd homer. Mets face the Nationals again at 1:35 p.m. today.
