BISONS CLOSE OUT SPRING SCHEDULE TODAY
The Buffalo Bisons (3-4-3) take on the Toledo Mud Hens (Detroit) today at 1:00 p.m. from the Spring Training home of the Cleveland Indians at Winter Haven, FL. This will be their final Spring exhibition game in 2007.
LAST GAME: BISONS 6, TOLEDO 13
On Friday, the Bisons (3-4-3) were defeated by the Toledo Mud Hens (Detroit), 12-6, at Lakeland, FL. INF Hector Luna went 2-3 with a HR and an RBI. He now has two home runs in his last three Spring games. INF Luis Rivas went 1-4 with HR and an RBI in his second game with the Bisons.
MLB OPENING NIGHT CELEBRATION
The Bisons will celebrate the return of baseball with an MLB OPENING NIGHT CELEBRATION on Sunday, April 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Pettibones Grille. Fans are invited to come down to the ballpark's restaurant and watch the first game of the MLB regular season (NY Mets vs. St. Louis Cardinals) and dine on free chicken wings. Bisons manager Torey Lovullo and select Bisons players will be on hand and door prizes will be given. The cost is a $5 charitable donation, which also gets fans a free ticket to the Bisons first fridaynightbash!⢠of the season, presented by Time Warner Cable, on April 6 against the Richmond Braves (6:05 p.m.). The Bisons are asking fans to RSVP by calling (716) 846-2011.
FINAL WORKOUTS -TIME CHANGE
Bisons manager Torey Lovullo has rescheduled the team's two workouts in the week leading up to Opening Day. The team will make final preparations for the season at Dunn Tire Park on Tuesday, April 3 (7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.) and Wednesday, April 4 (2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.). Both practices are weather permitting and subject to change.
BEN FRANCISCO RETURNS TO THE BISONS
On Wednesday, the Cleveland Indians optioned OF Ben Francisco to the Bisons. The team's Stan Barron Co-MVP last season, Francisco led the 2006 Bisons in games played (134), hits (143 -T2nd in International League), doubles (32 -T5th in the IL), extra-base hits (54), runs scored (80 -T4th in the IL) and stolen bases (25 -T9th in IL). Cleveland also optioned OF Shin-Soo Choo, who was a Pacific Coast League All-Star with Triple-A Tacoma last season, and LHP Juan Lara, who was 1-1 with a 3.00ERA and 1 save in 13 games with the Bisons in 2006.
