Bisons Add Gutierrez, Rose to Active Roster

The Buffalo Bisons today announced that outfielder Franklin Gutierrez has been added to the team's roster on a Major League Rehab assignment. Catcher Mike Rose also rejoins the team and is schedule to make his Bisons debut today as the Herd hosts the Ottawa Lynx at 1:05 p.m. at Dunn Tire Park.

Gutierrez, 24, split the 2007 season between the Bisons and the Cleveland Indians. He played 90 games for Buffalo and led the team with a .278 average (97-349) and a .373 on-base percentage (among league qualifiers). He started every game in the lead off position and also led the Herd with 49 walks. He was third on the team in hits (97), doubles (27) and runs scored (63) to go along with nine home runs and 38RBI. With Cleveland, Gutierrez hit .272 (37-136) with one home run and eight RBI in 43 games.

Rose, 30, split last season with the Triple-A Durham Bulls (Tampa Bay) of the International League and the Memphis Redbirds (St. Louis) of the Pacific Coast League before earning a September promotion to the St. Louis Cardinals. He hit .231 (78-338) with 20 doubles, 17 home runs and 41RBI in 102 total minor league games before collecting two hits in 10 at-bats in 10 games with for the eventual World Series Champions.

To make room on the Bisons' roster, catcher Yamid Haad was transferred to Single-A Mahoning Valley. Haad was signed by the Indians on Tuesday and did not appear in a game for Buffalo.
