Bismarck Bobcats News Release
Bismarck at Alexandria on the 29th of October featured a nail-biting and very exciting showcase of the skill of these two teams. The Bobcats came in playing hard in the first period and they took the lead with a power play goal. The Blizzard would not be left behind though as Scott Motz tied up the game with a power play goal that was assisted by Chris Johnson and Dan Swanson. Tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation the game went into OT with no goals scored during that time either and it turned into a shootout. The Blizzard made all three of their attempts and the Bobcats missed all three of them. The Blizzards shootout goals were scored by Sam Kelly, Dan Swanson, and Rylan Galiardi. Max Dodds with 19 saves resided over a win in goal for this very exciting game that featured a Blizzard team with a much more improved passing game.
On Sunday October 30th, 2005 the Blizzard and the Bobcats both displayed strong power plays. The Bobcats scored one power play goal and the Blizzard scored two in a 4-3 win.
At first look, this game would be something like the previous one until Swanson scored a goal that was assisted by Scott Motz and Eric Borre for the lone goal in the 1st period. The Bobcats dominated the second period with three goals total compared to one unassisted goal in the second by the Blizzard?s Ryan Shelafoe. Shelafoe's goal came after the Bismarck goalie misplayed the puck and scrambled back to the net too late. Paul Henderson and Dan Swanson scored the last two goals of the game to tie up the game and then win it 4-3 over the Bobcats. A shot from the point by Paul Henderson seemed to have eyes and trickled in with less then a minute to go to put the Blizzard ahead for good. Joe Calvi wins in the goal with 34 saves.
