BILLINGS, MT - Alex Coles has always been a goal scorer but the goals come easier on some nights than others. This past week, the 19-year-old Apple Valley, MN native not only scored often, but his points had a significant impact on the outcome of all four games. His four-game streak, which coincided with a successful 3-1-0 home stand for the Express, earned Coles NAHL co-Offensive Player of the Week with Mark Menzione of Mahoning Valley. "I wasn't really expecting it," Coles said of the honor, "but I had a good weekend. Some nights I feel like I'm going to get a lot of good shots. Some nights it doesn't click right away. This weekend, every time I went on the ice it felt like it was going to go in."

Against Wasilla last Thursday, Coles scored the goal midway through the game that put the Express ahead to stay in a 5-2 victory over the Spirit. The next night, Coles had the game winner and two more for a hat trick against Wasilla. On Saturday against Fairbanks, his third period jump-started an Express rally that fell a bit short as Southern Minnesota fell to the Ice Dogs 3-2. Coles finished off the week with the game's opening goal against Fairbanks and then the lone assist on the game winner late in the third. Coles now has 12 goals in 14 games for the Express to lead the team in goal scoring. "Obviously he was very worthy with the numbers he put up," said Express Coach Pat Cullen. "That's one of the things we thought he could provide for us was goal scoring."
