Montgomery Biscuits News Release
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Biscuits (64-53/30-19) won their ninth-straight game and swept the Birmingham Barons (61-57/28-21) in a five-game series for the first time since 2007 with a 3-2 win Monday night at Regions Field.
The Barons stranded eleven on base including the winning run in the ninth inning. With the Biscuits leading 3-2, Brad Schreiber (7) walked Jacob May after a ten pitch at-bat. Danny Hayes then followed with a single to put runners on the corners. Schreiber then got Christian Marrero to ground out into the shift to end the game. Schreiber picked up his seventh save of the season.
The Biscuits scored quickly off Myles Jaye (11-6). Cameron Seitzer ripped an RBI-double to score Tyler Goeddel in the first inning. The Biscuits added two more runs in the third inning to lead 3-0.
The Barons' only runs of the night came with a two-run single by Joey DeMichele in the fourth inning.
Jake Faria went six innings and allowed two runs with five strikeouts for the win. Faria wiggled out of a bases loaded jam in the sixth inning to protect a 3-2 lead.
The Biscuits continue on their 11-game, ten-day road trip on Tuesday when they open a six-game series against the Tennessee Smokies. RH Jaime Schultz will be on the mound for the Biscuits while the Smokies will have RH Felix Pena on the hill.
