The Chicago White Sox announced Monday the return of right-hander Matt Heidenreich to the Birmingham Barons, while transferring Montevallo alum Devon Davis to Low-A Kannapolis.

Heidenreich is 12-3 on the season with a 2.76 ERA. In 21 games with the Winston-Salem Dash, he has made 21 starts and tossed one complete game. His strikeouts out-number his walks 103-23, and he is holding opposing batters to a .254 average.

Heidenreich was originally signed by the White Sox in 2009 and spent three games in a Barons uniform during the 2012 season. He is 1-2 with a 5.89 ERA as a Birmingham hurler. The right-hander was traded to Houston in return for Brett Myers shortly after his stint with the Barons, and returned to the Chicago organization December 1, 2014 as a free agent.
