Biscuits Fall out of Race with Loss to Suns

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - For the second night in a row, the Biscuits (34-33) could not slow down late rallies from the Jacksonville Suns (34-30) in a 6-2 loss Friday night at the Baseball Grounds in Jacksonville. With the loss and a Mobile win, the Biscuits are now out of contention for a first-half championship.

With the Biscuits out in front 2-1 in the fourth inning, Noah Perio ripped a two-run double down the line to right to give the Suns a 3-2 lead. Danny Black followed with a run-scoring-double to plate Perio and make it 4-2 Jacksonville. The Suns then got solo home runs from Kyle Jensen in the sixth and Jake Marisnick in the seventh to lead 6-2.

After trailing 1-0, the Biscuits score their first run with an RBI-double from Mikie Mahtook in the third. Montgomery took a 2-1 lead after a sacrifice fly from Riccio Torrez in the fourth.

Adam Conley (6-2) struck out eight while only allowing two runs over seven innings for the win. Victor Mateo (2-7) allowed four runs in four innings for the loss.

The middle-game of the series is Saturday evening at 6:05 cst. RHP Michael Colla will toe the rubber for the Biscuits while RHP Jay Jackson will be on the hill for the Suns.
