
Biscuits Cruise to Series Win over Stars

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.- The Biscuits (36-31) bullpen pitched four scoreless innings to piggyback a strong start from Joe Cruz in a 7-2 win over the Huntsville Stars (34-35) Saturday night at Joe W. Davis Stadium. After Joe Cruz (4-6) allowed two runs in five innings, Scott Shuman struck out five in two innings. Marquis Fleming followed with a perfect eighth inning before Kirby Yates struck out the side in the 9th to finish the game. Cruz picked up his fourth win of the year. The Biscuits' offense scored the last five runs of the game. With the game tied at two in the fifth inning, Hak-Ju Lee reached on an error from left fielder Lee Haydel. After Lee stole second, Ty Morrison bounced a single through the middle to score Lee and give Montgomery the lead. The Biscuits would add two runs in the eighth and two runs in the ninth to finish the game. Huntsville's starter Kyle Heckathorn (2-6) gave up three runs, two earned, on six hits in six innings for the loss. Both Omar Luna and Greg Sexton had three hits on a night the Biscuits collected 12 hits as a team. The series finale will be Sunday afternoon at 1:03. RHP Matt Buschmann will start for the Biscuits while the Stars will send out RHP Hiram Burgos.
