'Birds Drop Series to FredNats with Shutout Loss, 7-0

SALISBURY, MD. - The Delmarva Shorebirds mustered just six singles as they were shutout 7-0 by Fredericksburg Nationals on Saturday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

The loss is the eighth straight for the Shorebirds (29-59, 8-15) against the Nationals (17-6, 50-39) who clinched a series win.

The FredNats were off and running in the first inning. Branden Boissiere lined a two-out RBI single before Geraldi Diaz poked a two-run single to make it a three-run frame.

Fredericksburg extended their lead in the fourth. Sammy Infante drew a bases loaded walk and Diaz drove in his third run of the game with a sacrifice fly.

Two more runs in the eighth iced the game for the Nationals. Infante roped an RBI double while Diaz drove in his fourth run of the game with an RBI single to bring the game to 7-0.

Pablo Aldonis (2-0) led the shutout effort for the Nationals and earned the win with five scoreless frames, striking out eight and walking two while allowing just two hits.

Edgar Portes (0-4) suffered the loss for the Shorebirds, allowing three runs in 2.2 innings on six hits and three walks

The Shorebirds wrap their three-game series with the Nationals on Sunday, July 23, at. Perdue Stadium. Darlin Alcantara (0-1, 5.73) is handed the ball for the Shorebirds against Jackson Rutledge (3-5, 6.08) for the Nationals. First pitch is slated for 5:05 p.m. with pregame coverage beginning at 6:50 p.m. on MiLB.TV and theshorebirds.com with Sam Jellinek on the call.
