
'Birds blank Isotopes, claim series

MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis needed only one run Friday night to beat Albuquerque and claim the American Conference Championship with a 1-0 victory at AutoZone Park.
Redbirds starter Evan MacLane made David Freese's solo home run in the second inning stand up to complete at three-game sweep of Albuquerque. MacLane turned in seven scoreless innings to earn the win. The lefty scattered five this with six strikeouts and no walks. Josh Kinney and Pete Parise each worked one inning with Parise notching his second save in as many nights. Brian Barden led all players going 3-for-3.
Xavier Paul and Jamie Hoffmann each had two hits for the Isotopes. Albuquerque starter Tim Corcoran was the tough-luck loser giving up one run on six hits over six innings.
