Sioux Falls Canaries News Release
Geneva, IL - Kane County's Ben Allison tossed 7 2/3 shutout innings and allowed just four hits to lead the Cougars past Sioux Falls 3-0 on Sunday.
Both starting pitchers were effective but Kane County broke a scoreless tie with a two-run homerun in the fourth inning. The Canaries would load the bases with no outs in the top of the sixth but a double play and a strikeout nixed the threat.
The Cougars added an insurance run in the eighth inning with a two-out single and Kane County's Ryan Richardson worked around a triple in the ninth to earn the save.
Trey Michalczewski had both Sioux Falls extra base hits while Wyatt Ulrich finished 2-4 with two singles. The Birds are now 10-24 overall and will open a six-game homestand Tuesday night at 7:05pm.
