STOCKTON, CA - Jordan Binnington made 30 saves for his eighth career AHL shutout and three players scored their first goals of the season, as the San Antonio Rampage (3-9-0) skated to a 4-0 win over the Stockton Heat (4-5-1) on Saturday night at Stockton Arena.
Brian Flynn, Jakub Jerabek, and Jordan Kyrou all scored their first goals in a Rampage uniform, with Flynn and Jerabek scoring as part of a three-goal outburst in the second period. The Rampage earned their first road win of the season.
At 13:37 of the second period, Flynn opened the scoring with a power play goal. Flynn deflected the original point shot from Chris Butler, which was fought off by Stockton goaltender Jon Gillies. Flynn found the rebound to score his first of the season, giving him a team-leading eight points.
Just 2:17 later, Ryan Olsen extended the lead with his second goal of the season. Mackenzie MacEachern led Olsen with a breakaway feed through the neutral zone, and Olsen lifted a backhander over Gillies' blocker as he was falling to the ice for a 2-0 Rampage lead.
In the final minute of the second, Jerabek made it 3-0 on the power play. Playing just his second game with San Antonio after being assigned by the St. Louis Blues earlier in the week, Jerabek stepped into a one-timer from just inside the blue line at 19:12 of the second, a shot that beat Gillies to the glove side.
The Rampage power play finished the night 2-for-3. San Antonio has scored multiple power play goals in a game three times this season.
Kyrou slid his first professional goal into an empty net at 19:50 of the third period, San Antonio's second shorthanded goal of the season.
Klim Kostin had two assists for San Antonio.
Binnington made 14 of his 30 saves in the third period to earn the shutout and his second straight win, and the second win for the Rampage in the past three games. Binnington saved two of his best stops for the final period, when he made a right pad stop on Spencer Foo on a 2-on-1 rush and immediately after went post-to-post to turn away Andrew Mangiapane.
Mangiapane saw a seven-game points streak come to an end. He had collected 11 points in that span.
The Rampage complete their stretch of three games in three nights in California on Sunday night at Rabobank Arena against the Bakersfield Condors. Puck-drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT, with the game available on The Ticket 760AM and on AHLTV.
