Billings Claims Series Victory with Walk-Off

Billings, MT-The Voyagers scratched together just three base hits in suffering their first walk-off loss of the season 1-0 to the Mustangs Tuesday night at Dehler Park. Great Falls (13-21) longest losing streak has now reached seven. The Voyagers are 4-6 against Billings in the season series. Great Falls has also dropped four straight road games. The Mustangs (15-21) have won two in a row, and improved to 9-10 at home this season.

Billings ended the night in the bottom of the ninth after a lead-off single by Valentin Martinez. Two wild pitches later, Martinez was at third when the Voyagers intentionally walked consecutive batters to load the bases. With the infield and outfield both moved in, T.J. Hopkins delivered the game-winning RBI single with a drive to deep right that landed on the warning track.

In relief, Ryan Dunne posted the win. Dunne (1-2) worked the final two innings and faced the minimum with four strikeouts. Nick Johnson took the loss. Johnson (0-2) faced four batters in the ninth and gave up one earned run on two hits with two walks. Chase Solesky recorded his longest outing of the season with a four-inning start for the Voyagers. Solesky yielded just two hits with three strikeouts and no walks. Nate Pawelczyk and Karan Patel combined for four scoreless relief innings. Pawelczyk gave up a hit with two strikeouts, while Patel struck out three. Great Falls wraps up its three-game series at Billings Wednesday night. First pitch at Dehler Park is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. The Voyagers return to Centene Stadium for an eight-game, seven-day home stand that begins with a doubleheader against Idaho Falls Thursday night.
