Reno Bighorns News Release
RENO, NEV.- The Reno Bighorns toppled the Idaho Stampede Wednesday night, pulling away in the fourth quarter, 115-95. Blake Ahearn scored 23 points and dished out 9 assists in his return to the team after a stint in the Los Angeles Clippers training camp. Andre Emmett added 21 points and 8 rebounds in the win, bringing the team to a 4-5 record.
Tempers flared at the end of the game when Antoine Walker of the Stampede committed a hard foul on Doug Thomas going for a rebound and a small scuffle ensued. Walker was ejected from the game after the incident.
The game was tightly contested in the first three quarters, until the Bighorns started to get easy looks in the fourth. First, Cedric Bozeman hit a wide open three-pointer to take a 4-point lead before Chris Davis drove through the Stampede defense for an easy layup to extend the lead to 6 points. Doug Thomas provided the exclamation point for the Bighorns with an emphatic slam dunk with 6:55 left in the game. The Stampede missed numerous shots in an attempt at a comeback and showed their frustration with the end of game scuffle.
The teams face off again Friday night at the Reno Events Center at 7 p.m. They then go to Idaho for the cap of the teams' early season three-game series.
Reno Bighorns season and group ticket packages are on sale today. Groups can experience one of the many Fan Experience Packages, including playing a game on the Bighorns court or performing a routine at halftime of a game. For more information call (775)853-8220 or visit RenoBighorns.com.
