Bighorns Lose to Vipers on Blake Ahearn's Historic Night
January 22, 2012 - NBA G League (G League)
Reno Bighorns News Release
RENO, NEV.- Blake Ahearn came into the game against the Rio Grande Vipers on Saturday night with an NBA D-League record 94 consecutive free-throws made. He had his sights set on surpassing a more prestigious mark.
Ahearn went 5-for-5 from the free throw line to have made 99 consecutive free-throws, a mark better than the NBA record of 97, set by Michael Williams of the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1993. Unfortunately, the accomplishment came in a Bighorns loss.
Andre Emmett led the Bighorns with 24 points while Ahearn posted 19 points and six assists. Ben Uzoh led the Vipers with a game-high 31 points and 10 assists.
The Bighorns once again could not find an answer to the NBA D-League leading offense of the Vipers, who scored 116 points on 55 percent shooting from the field. The Vipers also grabbed 24 offensive rebounds.
The Bighorns hit the road for a four-game road trip, beginning with a game in Springfield against the Armor. The team returns to Reno on February 4th for a showdown with the Bakersfield Jam at the Reno Events Center.
Reno Bighorns season and group ticket packages are on sale today. Groups can experience one of the many Fan Experience Packages, including playing a game on the Bighorns court or performing a routine at halftime of a game. For more information call (775)853-8220 or visit RenoBighorns.com. ### _
