PORTLAND, MAINE Jan. 22, 2012 - The Maine Red Claws (8-16) took the second game of the two game weekend set against Erie (10-13) by a score of 110-88. Kyle Spain scored the BayHawks first ten points of the game, including two three pointers. Following a back and forth first quarter, the Red Claws held a 27-26 advantage.

Erie would not get any closer as Maine distanced itself in the second quarter, taking a halftime lead of seven points, 49-42. Maine's Morris Almond scored 15 of his game-high 27 points in the first half and Anthony Kent surpassed his season average in both points and rebounds (9 points and 7 rebounds) before the break.

The Red Claws broke the game open in the third stanza, outscoring the BayHawks 31-19 in the frame, including a 12-0 run. During the fourth quarter, the Red Claws held their biggest lead of the game, 29 points. When the final buzzer rang, the Red Claws outscored the BayHawks by 22.

Erie's standout from Friday night, Jeremy Lin, was inactive due to an ankle injury he sustained during his triple-double performance. The BayHawks other assignment player from the New York Knicks, Jerome Jordan, finished the game with 10 points and 7 rebounds. Erie was paced by Kyle Goldcamp who scored 23 points and grabbed 8 rebounds off the bench. Kyle Spain also contributed with a double-double (20 points and 11 rebounds). Tirrell Baines scored an efficient 16 points off the bench on 7-9 shooting from the floor.

Maine was led by Morris Almond (27 points, 9 rebounds), Anthony Kent (16 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocked shots) and Kenny Hayes (16 points, 8 assists). The Red Claws connected on over half of their shots from the floor (51%), while the BayHawks shot only 41% and turned the ball over 19 times.

Erie returns home for a two game set against the Sioux Falls Skyforce next Friday and Saturday. The Red Claws take on the Idaho Stampede on Friday at the Portland Exposition Center.
