Reno Bighorns News Release

RENO, Nev.- The Reno Bighorns acquired guard Thomas Gardner from the Austin Toros today in a three-team deal with the Toros and the Idaho Stampede, bringing a sixth NBA veteran to the Bighorns' active roster.

Gardner, a 6-5, 210 pound guard from the University of Missouri, has appeared in 20-career games over two seasons with the Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks. He also has played professionally in Belgium, and has seen time in 14-career D-League games with the Anaheim Arsenal (2008-09) and Austin Toros (2010-11).

Reno acquired Gardner from Austin and sent a third-round 2011 draft pick to Idaho. To complete the deal, the Stampede sent Eric Boateng to the Toros. In 12 games with Austin this season, Gardner has averaged 12.4 points per game, 2.3 rebounds per game and 2.0 assists per game. He has scored in double-figures in eight of the 12 games in which he has appeared this season.

Gardner joins Jeremy Lin (Golden State), Danny Green (Cleveland, San Antonio), Marcus Landry (Boston, New York), Patrick O'Bryant (Golden State, Toronto, Boston) and Salim Stoudamire (Atlanta) as players on the Bighorns' current roster who boast NBA experience.

Gardner likely will not be active until Reno's road games this weekend against the Idaho Stampede. Reno plays Wednesday night at home against the Springfield Armor at 7 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets for the game by calling (775) 284-2622, visiting the Silver Legacy box office or browsing ticketmaster.com.
