New Mexico Scorpions News Release

[ Odessa, Tex.]-The Scorpions scored five straight goals to win 5-3 over Odessa Friday night. The win moved the Scorpions into a second place tie with the Jackalopes.

Knowing their backs were up against the wall, New Mexico came out and showed the Jackalopes they had plenty of fight left. Kevin Harvey tipped in an Aaron MacInnis shot to tie the game 1:51 into the final frame.

The Scorpions took the lead on the power play when Konrad Reeder put home a rebound. With another power play ensuing, Craig Macdonald collected a second chance shot and scored his 25th goal of the season.

The final minute saw the teams exchange goals. Vladimir Hartinger sealed the victory with an empty netter. Odessa's Colin Circelli brought his team within two in the waning seconds, but that's as close as they would get.

Rebounds were the key for Odessa in the opening period. Josh Chase snuck in from the blue line and put a rebound home 7:11 into the contest. A little over two minutes later, with the Jackalopes on the power play, Dominic Leveille grabbed a bouncing puck and slid it past goalie Andrew Martin, giving Odessa the 2-0 lead.

The Scorpions got on the board with a power play goal of their own. MacInnis ripped a slap shot just under the crossbar and into the net, bringing the Scorpions to within one after two periods.
