Hounds Win Fourth Straight To Remain Fourth In Conference

BROOMFIELD, COLORADO - Mark Odut netted a hat trick to lead Youngstown to a 6-3 win over the Rocky Mountain Rage on Friday night. The Hounds improve to 33-19-4 (70 points) and stay in fourth place in the Northern Conference standings.

Odut scored his first of the night at 8:01 from Jason Baird and Tyler Wooddisse to give the Hounds a 1-0 lead. Baird had three assists on the night giving him 22 on the season and Wooddisse tallies his first CHL point in his first game as a SteelHound. Odut and Baird struck again just 24 seconds later to make it 2-0. Jeff Genovy scored his first as a SteelHound and fifth of the season (four with Laredo) at 13:34 to make it 3-0. Rocky Mountain responded thanks to a power play goal by David Morelli at 15:41 to make it 3-1. Bryan Lachapelle stopped the rally 57 seconds later with his sixth of the season to make it 4-1 Hounds after one period. Rocky Mountain was 2-4 on the power play while the Hounds were 0-1.

In the second period Odut completed the hat trick at 14:39 to make it 5-1 after two periods. It is Youngstown's second hat trick of the season and first since Chris Richards accomplished the feat on October 19th. Odut also added an assist giving him 12 goals and eight assists on the season.

Rocky Mountain made it interesting in the third as a power play goal from Daymen Rycroft at 8:53 and an even strength goal from Jeremy Garrison at 17:31 made it 5-3. Chris Richards stopped the rally with an empty net goal with 16 seconds to play to make it a 6-3 win for Youngstown. The Hounds finish the regular season series 3-1-0 against the Rage. They are 18-11-1 on the road this season.
