Big man returns to Stampede roster

(Boise, Idaho) - The Idaho Stampede have acquired center Eric Williams. The 6-9, 255 pound big man from the University of Massachusetts fills the open roster spot vacated when the Toronto Raptors called up forward Luke Jackson on a 10-day contract on March 25. Williams' will be in uniform for Idaho's next game against the Los Angeles D-Fenders at the STAPLES Center on Friday, March 30.

The Brooklyn, NY native returns to Idaho, playing in a Stampede uniform during the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons. During the 2004-05 season, Williams averaged 5.8 points and 4.7 rebounds in 38 games, including 12 in the starting lineup. Williams averaged 10.3 points and 6.1 rebounds during the 2005-06 season in 38 games total, with both Yakama and Idaho.

In a total of 62 games during those two seasons, Williams averaged 8.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest while wearing a Stampede uniform.

Williams previously played in the D-League during the 2002-03 season, sharing time between the Columbus, Huntsville and Greenville franchises. The sixth round pick in the 2002 D-League Draft by the Greenville Groove, played in a total of 24 games during the year, averaging 3.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.

Williams' most recent action has been with Pittsburgh and Albany in the CBA. In 40 games, he averaged 6.4 points and a league-leading 12.2 rebounds per game.

In 23 games with the Stampede before his second Gatorade Call-Up of the season on March 25, Jackson averaged 14.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. Jackson was previously called-up by the Los Angeles Clippers in January 8, later returning to Idaho on January 23.

The D-League continues to develop talent from across all disciplines for the NBA's 30 teams and the entire NBA umbrella. In addition to the assignment of 20 NBA players to D-League affiliates this season, there have also been 11 GATORADE Call-Ups from the D-League to the NBA. Additionally, every referee hired by the NBA since 2002 has worked in the D-League, while coaches, athletic trainers and front office executives are also being developed.
