Las Vegas Aviators News Release
LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) and the Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, announced today the television outlets that will broadcast Big League Weekend.
The two day event will feature the Seattle Mariners vs. Chicago Cubs on Friday, March 30 at 7:15 p.m. and Saturday, March 31 at 1:05 p.m. at Cashman Field.
WGN Superstation Chicago (Cox Cable Channel 16) will televise Friday's Big League Weekend opener. Comcast SportsNet Chicago will televise Saturday's contest. Len Kasper and Bob Brenly will call the action for both games.
The Mariners will also televise both games on KSTW (Friday) and FSN Northwest (Saturday). Dave Sims and Mike Blowers will call the action.
"Las Vegas receives great exposure on the television coverage and the LVCVA has the opportunity to welcome tourists from two key markets," 51s President/General Manager Don Logan said. "Big League Weekend continues to be a great tradition for the city and a large number of fans attending the games will be from out of town. This is a great way to begin the baseball season and especially with our organization celebrating the "25th PCL Season" in Las Vegas beginning next month."
The radio broadcast schedule will feature KOMO 1000 AM (Seattle) and WGN 720 AM (Chicago). Veteran broadcaster Dave Niehaus and Rick Rizzs will call the action for Seattle and Pat Hughes and Cubs legend Ron Santo will call the action for the Cubs.
The 51s, under first-year manager Lorenzo Bundy, will open their 25th PCL season on Thursday, April 5 at Salt Lake City, Utah against the Salt Lake Bees, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Las Vegas' home opener will be on Friday, April 13 against the Bees at 7:05 p.m. at Cashman Field. Season tickets and mini-plan packages (10, 20, 33-game plans) are available by calling the 51s office at (702) 798-7825.
